These salt spreaders are simple to use and maintain, they are ideal for de-icing or anti-icing footways, shopping precincts, factory or hospital sites and car parks etc. These are what we would call ‘drop’ salt spreaders where the salt is ‘dropped’ from across the entire width of the salt spreader as opposed to a spinner salt spreader where the salt is broadcast from a spinner disc.

The advantage of the drop type salt spreader is that the salt is spread exactly where it is needed and not over ‘work in progress’, landscaped areas or thrown against the side of cars etc. which could cause damage. All the salt spreaders, except the PM1.4 range, are driven from the road wheels thus giving a fully road speed related spread i.e. the quantity spread per m² remains constant, whatever the speed of travel.

The Epoke metering system

Epoke Salt spreaders use, what was originally, their patented system for metering salt. This system includes a rubber base(3) with spring fingers (4) which presses the rubber against a metering roller (2) fitted with cams. Every time the roller rotates the cams forces out the same amount of material. Above the metering roller inside the hopper there is a full length agitator shaft (1) to break up any lumps in the material and keep it free flowing. (Helping to give an accurate and even spread even with wet, lumpy salt.) The metered salt drops directly onto the road . The second rubber (5) wipes the metering roller clean before it re-enters the hopper to repeat the process.

All Epoke salt spreaders are given a high quality, long lasting paint treatment. They are shot blasted to SA 2.5, zinc dust primer/undercoat then top coated with two-pack paint, stove enamelled and oven dried to 70^oC between each stage. They are painted in orange RAL2011 (EpoMini’s RAL2000).

It is not uncommon for us to supply spare parts for salt spreaders from the ‘ITM’ and TMK10 ranges which are well over 15 years old and sometimes even spreaders which are in excess of 20 years old. This testifies to the quality and longevity of the Epoke salt spreaders as well as to our spare parts support.
